How to buy soccer tickets in Japan?

Look for Tokyo events on Concerts, K-Pop, Music Festivals, Baseball, Soccer, MMA, Sumo or Kabuki!

Japanese soccer is called J-league, one of the biggest soccer leagues is Asia. Except some popular matches, tickets are still not very hard to get, but also not much information available in English. Here you can find the information on how you can get soccer tickets in Tokyo!

1. Choose a soccer club to go.

Before buying tickets, you may want to pick the club you are interested. You can find the details of soccer clubs below so that you are able to know which soccer clubs you would like to get tickets.
- Japan National Soccer Team
Japan National team is the top contents of the whole Japan sport - tickets are very popular and sold out instantly. If you find one, that's a gold ticket! Because of the popularity, the stadium is really huge,(Saitama stadium or Nissan stadium - 50,000 or 70,000) so if you are early enough, you have a chance to get tickets.
- FC Tokyo
Luckily, FC Tokyo tickets are not likely to sell out(in most of the cases) as their stadium is one of the biggest among J-league. Their team color is red and blue, just like FC Barcelona. Also they sing you’ll never walk alone at the stadium, just like Liverpool FC :) Usually this club is a good pool of young footballers - Takefusa Kubo, Yuto Nagatomo and Yoshinori Muto - those players are from FC Tokyo. On a side note, FC Tokyo fans are called “locusts” as they eat a huge amount of the stadium food when they visit the away stadiums. So get ready to eat food and drink with local fans!

- Urawa Reds
Urawa Reds has the biggest fan-base among Japanese soccer club, still tickets are possible to attain usually. Their fans are known as the hottest, and the most enthusiastic. Their home stadium is built specifically for soccer, which is quite rare in Japan. Therefore, crazy (in a good way...) fans, a beautiful stadium, always crowded - those are the characteristics of Urawa Reds. Their home stadium, Saitama Stadium 2020, is located in neighbourhood prefecture Saitama, but still their stadium is in one of the most convenient access from Tokyo.

- Kawasaki Frontale
Kawasaki Frontale is probably the most convenient location from Tokyo as it has easy access from Shibuya. However, their stadium is rather small so their tickets are likely to be sold out - you should book tickets early if you are interested. They are traditionally super strong club and known for a great pass style soccer, just like Spanish football league. Still, despite the fact how great they are, they often lose titles at finals - so they are called “silver collectors” which still means that they are a superb club to visit.

- Yokohama F Marinos
Yokohama F Marinos are the one of the city football group members, same as Manchester city, supported by Nissan. Their home stadium is the biggest in Japan, 70000 capacity. Sometimes they use the smaller stadium called Mitsuzawa Football Stadium but both are easy access from Tokyo. As their stadium is the biggest in Japan, their tickets are less likely to be sold out. They are the one of the first adaptors of dynamic pricing in tickets, too.

- Kashiwa Reysol
This yellow shirt team has a great smaller stadium - the capacity is 13000 but the stadium is made specially for soccer. So Fans and players are super close! This small community often creates their own "freedom" spirit that supporters making jokes and the stadium actually take it and announce it during the break, just for fun. Surprisingly, tickets are quite available usually. If you are closer to Kashiwa area of Chiba, and be a part of this close relationship and the spectacular match, this is the place to go!

- Yokohama FC
This club was in J2 until 2019 and they became J1 club from 2020. Tickets are usually available, back in 2019 but unknown for 2020 (probably not too hard, we could assume). Kazu Miura, one of the most famous players in Japanese soccer history, is in this team. He is born in 1967 -still he is a real J1 player! The team does not have experience with J1 yet but that is also exciting how they will fight against other teams! They have the same home stadium as Yokohama F Marinos - Mitsuzawa stadium.

-Shonan Bellmare
This is a smaller club about an hour distance from Tokyo - great surfing area of Japan! This club is known for Japanese soccer legend Hidetoshi Nakata - he started his career here. Tickets are less likely to be sold out. They have the philosophy of short counter strategy and by doing this for many years, tactics are getting better every year. They were between 1st league and 2nd league but now they stay J1 for most of the year. Yes they are growing even now and will develop more next year. You will get to see the path they made with their philosophy.

2. Book Soccer tickets.

Soccer tickets are not very likely to sell out in Japan, but they have a lot of core fans - meaning good seat types and front rows are usually sold out very soon. If you are ok with the back of the stadium you do not need to rush. But if you would want to secure good seats, we will recommend you to act fast. Also if you are looking for a ticket for the national soccer team games, you would want to book as early as possible.

3. Go to a stadium directly.

Japanese soccer tickets are less likely to be sold out (except Japan national team). You may just go to the stadium and buy tickets if tickets are still not sold out - you can check each of the official club website for the availability. They usually do not accept credit card at the stadium, so make sure to bring cash with you.
