Tips: How to buy Kabuki Tickets

Depending on the venue but Kabuki tickets are usually popular and often sold out, especially on weekend. Here are some tips to get tickets!

1. Get as soon as general onsale tickets get available.

Kabuki Tickets will be sold for general onsale about a month before the first performance date. You may check our list of "Tickets Currently Available in Tokyo" above. You need to act quick especially on weekend - tickets are quite competitive.

2. Book tour package tickets

Some tour companies will offer the tickets for Kabuki way in advance as a tour package tickets. You get to secure tickets way in advance (around 6 months before) compared to general onsale tickets - sometimes tickets are highly competitive. You may check the link below for tour tickets (*Link currently suspended due to COVID).

3. Go to the box office on the performance day for general admission tickets.

Kabukiza - a kabuki theatre in Higashi ginza - will offer you limited numbers of general admission tickets for the day. Tickets are cheaper(500 JPY to 2000JPY around denending on the length and popularity)as the seat would be far away from the stage. The venue is not that huge, so it's still quite comfortable to watch. You also get to see only 1 act. Usually Kabuki will perform 3 or 4 acts per show and it will last about for 4 or 4.5 hours. 1 act would be 30 minutes to 90 minutes - so it is a good chance if you are not ready for whole show yet. As you can imagine, most of the times this ticket is popular and competitive so you might want to show up early!

4. Try tour tickets - Jungyo

Kabuki will also tour all Japan (called Jungyo). As the venue is not a usual Kabuki venues, there are less regular customers - meaning tickets are cheaper and more available. They often do this Jungyo-tour close to Tokyo, which might be a good chance for you.

5. The alternative is Kabuki Dinner Show!

Ok, this is not so called Kabuki, but Kabuki entertainment dinner show is a thing, too. With a brief explanation of Kabuki and dinner included, it is not a too bad price. This is some alternative if you are just trying to have fun and with a experience of Kabuki too. Find the link below!
